Hey everyone! For this post I kind of wanted to just let you all know what my average day is during the summer time. Even when we are not in school and not having practice, that doesn't mean I am not training and spending a lot of time getting ready for the coming season.
Getting an Edge on Opponents
Summer time is the time of year where you have to opportunity to get an edge over your competition. It is the time you are able to put in the work when others are relaxing.
During these trying times of COVID, it can be very difficult to stay motivated. One of the best things I have found to stay consistent, is having a group to train with. I am very lucky in the sense that I have teammates that I can run with every morning. It is very nice to have people to hold you accountable and vice versa.

My Birthday
During the summer a group of us runs together every morning. Every Saturday we will try to go on a long run, and as it turned out, my birthday was on a Saturday this year. Because it was my birthday part of me wanted to sleep in and relax, but another part of me really wanted to stay consistent and push myself (even on my birthday). We ended up driving up the mountain to 10,000 feet elevation and going on a 14 mile run. It was difficult running up there, but I was very proud of myself and it was one of the best starts to a birthday that I have ever had.

Motivation
Running can be one of the most difficult and grueling tasks, but it can also be one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences. When it comes down to it, the most important thing is motivation. I can guarantee that running will be much more enjoyable if you stay consistent with your running. It will no longer be task, but an enjoyable activity that you have added to your routine.

There are going to be really hard days when you really don't want to go out and run, but it is important to push through and stay motivated. I can guarantee that 99.9% you will be glad you ran and won't regret it at all :). Just remember to stay motivate and positive!
