Have you ever been so stressed you felt like you couldn't get anything done? Don't worry we have all been there! Running can be a great way to get your mind off of things and solve this issue!

My personal Experience with stress

As many of you know, going to school can be a very stressful thing. With constant deadlines and assignments, it can be difficult to keep your cool. Going to school, having a job, being on a team, and just being a human, I have had my fair share of stress. Many people have their own unique ways to deal with stress, some are much more effective than others.

Whenever I get stressed, whether is be with school or other things, I tend to just completely shut down. I am unable to complete any tasks or assignments. It is usually pretty obvious when I hit a point like this, and I have to do my best to get out of it. I will sometimes just watch a show, or take a nap, but most of the time the most successful way I cope with stress is by going on a run. Not only with going on a run when I am stress often relieve the stress but going on a run every morning makes me much less likely to even get stressed!

What Harvard has to say about stress

According to an article published by the Harvard Medical School, the mental benefits of aerobic exercise have a neurochemical basis. This means that exercise such as running reduces levels of the body's stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol. It also stimulates the production of endorphins, chemicals in the brain that are the body's natural painkillers and mood elevators.

Endorphins are responsible for something that many of you have heard of called the "runner's high". The runner’s high is known for the feelings of relaxation and optimism that accompany many hard workouts.

Why you should run!

Almost any type of exercise will help you when it comes to alleviating stress. Many people find that using large muscle groups in a rhythmic, repetitive fashion works best.. Walking and jogging are prime examples. Even a simple 20-minute stroll can clear the mind and reduce stress. But some people prefer vigorous workouts that burn stress along with calories
